Adhyatma Prachara Sevashramam, Rayadurgam
Vedantha Jignasa (vedanthajignasa.in) is the web archive of the Adhyatma Prachara Sevashramam, Rayadurgam. It exists to make the writings, journal, discourses and reflections of Sri Sacchidanandendra Saraswathi Swamiji freely available to anyone who wants to study them, anywhere in the world, at no cost.
Sri Sacchidanandendra Saraswathi Swamiji (1880–1975) was born in Holenarasipura, in present-day Karnataka, and devoted his life to the study of Advaita Vedanta as taught by Adi Shankaracharya. His central and defining contribution was philological and philosophical: he went back to the Prasthanatraya Bhashyas — Shankara's commentaries on the Upanishads, the Brahma Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita — and worked to recover Shankara's own method of teaching, his prakriya, as distinct from the readings later attached to him by the sub-commentarial schools that grew up after his time. Swamiji held that several of these later schools, for all their erudition, had drifted from what Shankara actually said and meant, and that the only way to know Shankara's Vedanta was to return to Shankara's own words and read them on their own terms. This is the thread that runs through everything published on this site — not a new system, but a return to the source.
The Adhyatma Prachara Sevashramam in Rayadurgam, Andhra Pradesh, carries this work forward as a living institution. Alongside daily worship and a regular Vedantha satsangam, the Ashramam has, for decades, produced two ongoing streams of publication: the Vedantha Granthamala — a series of books and papers on Advaita Vedanta — and the Telugu quarterly journal Adhyatma Jyothi. Both continue to this day. This website was built to carry that print work online, so that readers who cannot visit Rayadurgam, or who read digitally rather than on paper, still have access to the full body of material.

None of this material is sold or paywalled. The Ashramam's purpose has always been prachara — propagation and teaching — rather than commerce, and this site simply continues that purpose online. Every book, every issue of Adhyatma Jyothi, every audio recording and every Chintana reflection is published for anyone to read or listen to without charge. The site itself is run on a non-commercial basis by the Ashramam; it does not sell courses, subscriptions or access.
